Glakho Zakaryan was born in 1905 in Tblisi, Georgia(Russian Empire). He had never taken part in formal musical education but rather he interacted with Tblisi's musicians and was able to inherit the Armenian and Georgian folk and minstrel song tradition.
Due to his naturally beautiful and loud voice he has deservedly presented troubadour music, especially the compositions of Sayat Nova.
Scholars and average people appreciate and love his songs.
He has taken part in many festival competitions, concerts and, most note worthy, Sayat Nova's 250th anniversary concert, where he won the prize for best performer. His performances are unique interpretations of Sayat Nova's Armenian and Georgian songs.
He died in 1978.
