How I Passed the PMP Exam

Hey everyone! I’m Ryan Holguin, and I’m thrilled to share my journey of becoming a Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI). Balancing a busy home life with a wife, four kids, a fifth on the way, and homeschooling wasn’t easy, but it’s possible. If I can do it, anyone can!

In this video, I break down my process, share resources, and offer tips that helped me succeed. Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll find:

Eligibility and Application:
To see if you’re eligible for the PMP exam, visit the PMI website: https://www.pmi.org/certifications/project-management-pmp/how-to-apply
If you have a degree, you’ll need to log three years of unique project experience. Projects can’t overlap in their timelines.

Formal Training:
You need 35 hours of formal PMP training. I used this Udemy course: https://www.udemy.com/course/pmp-pmbok6-35-pdus/
There are many great courses out there, so find one that fits your learning style.

Exam Preparation:

Additional Tips:
I didn’t take a formal practice exam, but many find them helpful. Find what works best for you. You have one year to take the exam once you qualify and pay, with up to three attempts allowed if needed.
