Remembering the Oklahoma City bombing 25 years later | Dispatches from the Middle
On April 19, 1995, 168 people, 19 of them children, died in the Oklahoma City bombing, the deadliest domestic terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Hundreds more were injured, and even 25 years after the awful tragedy, survivors and first responders still feel the pain and terror of that day.
Chris Lee, a veteran photojournalist with @KOCO, was one of the first on the scene at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, the front of which had been completely blown off. Lee covered both the bombing and Timothy McVeigh's trial in Denver, and he sat with us to reflect on what it was like to be there that day, and how Oklahomans have come together year after year for a quarter century to support one another in the wake of the tragedy.
