About Hautacam and Col de Tramassel:
The ride up to Hautacam and Col de Tramassel is an epic classic. It is a ride full of cycling history, beautiful scenery, and double-digit gradients. Hautacam has hosted five Tour de France stage finishes. In 1996 Bjarne Riis ‘crushed’ the unbeatable Indurain on this climb and four years later Lance Amstrong set up his Tour de France victory here. Both later admitted the use of doping. The ride starts in the Pau valley at the ‘Gave de Pau’ river bridge. After leaving the main road the route becomes almost car-free and amazing greenery welcomes the cyclist. The gradients shift between double-digit gradients and single-digit gradients. It can be difficult to find a good rhythm on this climb and therefore many regards this climb as one of the most difficult climbs in the French Pyrenees. The scenery on this climb is jaw-dropping and you often have uninterrupted views of the Pau valley. As you get to the upper slopes you can enjoy the vistas of the mountains. This route does not stop at Hautacam but continues up to Col de Tramassel where you will find a small observatory and a restaurant.

Adding music to the ride:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we do not add music to our rides. We simply do not want to spoil your ride with music you do not like. But it is quite simple to add it yourself. Open an extra browser tab. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, YouTube, etc…) and pick the music you like and enjoy the ride...
