The cops are called to a potential risk of child safety as a man has breached his restraining order by picking up his kids with his partner's car. The cops have had previous contacts with him before, with a violent history the cops need to be prepared for a fight.

Real-life officers are followed by a camera crew, cinéma-vérité style, in a gritty up-close look at police work and the consequences of crime. It spawned a number of police-reality imitators.
