4 COUNTRIES AND MY FIRST CLASS TRIP!

In the beginning of February I had a Winter Break where my host family and I drove to France for a Ski Trip. We drove through both Switzerland and France so I visited two more countries, making my total visited 15 countries! But Switzerland and France were extremely beautiful. I spent my ski week snow shoeing because I do not know how to downhill ski. But I love snow shoeing and it is a good exercise. The town that we stayed in hosted the 1992 Winter Olympics, only the cross country skiing competitions. It was a super cute ski town and had a lot to do. I also saw many gorgeous winter landscapes and was extremely grateful for this entire trip.

On our drive back we went on a "Watchman's Tour of Rothenburg" which was extremely cool. One scene of Harry Potter was filmed in Rothenburg and it is one of the best preserved towns from the medieval times!

Also German's don't celebrate Valentines Day as crazily as Americans. There is only really giving a rose to your significant other. And they don't sell anything Valentines related in stores and just skip right over to Easter candy. But I was the wacky American wishing her classmates "Happy Valentines Day!".

Then I went on my first class trip to Krakow, Poland. It was a 6 hour bus ride but it was super fun. I stayed in a 6-person apartment with my friends and we explored downtown. We went one day to Auschwitz-Birkenau Nazi Concentration Camp. That was an extremely emotional day and I am very lucky that I was able to visit. I learned a lot and can wish for history to not repeat itself. But the rest of my Krakow trip was good and we got to see a lot of historic buildings and witness a lot of culture.

I also had my first clubbing experience with Martha and River. That was definitely different than something you would experience in the USA because it is only teenagers and you are dancing until 2 AM.

River came to visit me, so we were tourists in Berlin for a bit! We visited the East Side Gallery (never seen so little people there), the Aquarium Berlin, the DDR Museum, and saw the Berlin monuments.

For this last week, I was sick so it was a lot of staying at home and relaxing but it's back to school on Monday!
