The POWERFUL JESUS Did This On Good Friday
Heavenly Father,
Today is Good Friday—a day that reminds us of deep sorrow, but also of Your great love. We come before You with quiet hearts, thinking about what Jesus did for us on the cross. Thank You, Father, for sending Your only Son. Thank You for the love that held Him there. Thank You for the mercy that flowed from that cross.
Jesus, we cannot fully understand the pain You went through, but we know You suffered willingly. You were innocent, yet You took our place. You were holy, yet You carried our sins. You were full of life, yet You gave it all so we could live. Thank You for Your sacrifice.
We remember how You were betrayed, arrested, and beaten. You were mocked, spit on, and whipped. A crown of thorns was forced onto Your head, and heavy nails pierced Your hands and feet. The cross was heavy, but You carried it for us. The pain was deep, but You endured it for our sake. The shame was great, but You bore it without complaint. You did all this because You love us.
Lord, today we just want to say thank You. Thank You for staying on that cross when You could have walked away. Thank You for forgiving the people who hurt You. Thank You for thinking of us in Your final moments. You said, “Father, forgive them,” and that prayer still reaches us today.
Help us to never forget the price You paid. Help us to carry the cross in our hearts. Help us to live in a way that shows our gratitude—not just with our words, but with our lives. You gave everything for us; teach us to give our hearts fully to You.
Forgive us, Lord, for the times we forget what You’ve done. Forgive us when we act like Your sacrifice is small. Forgive us for our pride, our selfishness, and our sin. Wash us clean with the blood You shed. Make us new today. Make our hearts soft and open to You.
We come to the foot of the cross today and lay everything down. We give You our worries, our failures, our pain, and our sin. We bring our brokenness, and we ask You to heal us. We bring our fears, and we ask You to give us peace. We bring our weakness, and we ask for Your strength.
Jesus, help us to love others like You loved us. You showed mercy to the ones who hurt You. Help us to show mercy too. Teach us to forgive, to be patient, to be kind. Let the power of the cross change us from the inside out.
We pray for our families today. May Your love cover our homes. May Your peace fill every room. May Your grace hold us together and guide us through every challenge. Let Good Friday be a reminder to keep our eyes on You.
We also pray for our world. So many people are hurting, lost, or confused. Let them see Your light. Let them hear the message of the cross. Show them that hope is not dead—because You are alive. Even on this day of sorrow, we believe Sunday is coming. We know the grave could not hold You.
But today, we sit in the shadow of the cross. We pause to remember. We sit in silence and think about the love that was poured out for us. We remember that Your body was broken so ours could be healed. We remember that You were punished so we could have peace. We remember that You were rejected so we could be accepted.
Lord, there are no words big enough to say thank You. But from our hearts, we say it anyway: thank You for saving us. Thank You for not giving up on us. Thank You for seeing our worth even when we didn’t see it ourselves. Thank You for dying so that we may live forever with You.
Let this day change us. Let it renew our faith. Let it draw us closer to You. Let it remind us that we are never alone, never forgotten, and never unloved. The cross is our proof.
Today we remember, we reflect, and we rejoice—not because of the suffering, but because of what it accomplished. We rejoice because the cross means victory. We rejoice because death was defeated. We rejoice because we are Yours.
Help us to carry the message of the cross in our hearts every day. Let it shape the way we speak, act, love, and serve. Let it lead us to surrender, to worship, and to walk in Your footsteps.
Jesus, You are our Savior. You are our Redeemer. You are our Hope. And we love You.
Thank You for Good Friday. Thank You for the cross. And thank You, most of all, for the gift of eternal life.
We pray this in Your holy and powerful name,
Amen.
