Albanese was ‘courageous’ for following through on Voice referendum

Melbourne’s Deputy Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece says in a democracy politicians should “say what they are going to do” and then “do what they say”.

Mr Reece’s comments come after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said his commitment to the Voice referendum was to deliver on a promise.

“That’s what Albanese did, he left nobody under any illusions,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“A vote for him was a vote for a referendum to give Indigenous people recognition and the Voice in the constitution.

“It shows that he’s a courageous politician.”
