Do you really need Green or Black Belt?
💡Do you really need all the belts—White, Yellow, Green, Black—to run Operational Excellence effectively?
In this video, I challenge the conventional belt system often promoted by training companies and offer a more practical, impact-driven way to structure your Lean Six Sigma training. We look at what each belt level should actually deliver for your organisation and how to build a belt structure that aligns with your Strategy, Improvement, and Control needs—starting with what managers, engineers, and frontline leaders actually do.
Rather than treat belts as standalone achievements, I propose a capability house: White Belts manage the Control Cycle, Yellow Belts lead Root Cause Analysis, Green Belts drive process improvements, and Black Belts coach, prioritise and coordinate the whole programme. If your current belt system doesn’t deliver those results, it’s time for a rethink.
