Every great organization has a mission, vision, and their core values defined. What's important is you know what you mean when you use these words and definitions.

Here are our definitions:

MISSION is that statement about why you exist. Write it in a "to verb" structure. Why do you do what you do?

VALUES are your core beliefs, and guiding principles that govern everything you do. They shape the culture and inform your vision. You should have 3-5 core values for your organization.

VISION is a picture of a preferred future. It should be informed by your values and mission. We recommend NOT to write a vision statement. The reason is because if you have a mission and vision statement, they end up competing, and worst of all, no one remembers either one! Instead, we recommend to tell a story about your vision - a story of the current reality that you're not happy with, and one that paints a picture of a preferred future.
