How to Paint Mountains and Rocks

Painting rocks and mountains is a great video where I will combine two of these wonderful subjects into one painting. Often painters have problems simplifying these difficult shapes in nature but I will show you it is not as hard as it seems.

I will show you how to capture the essence of rocks and the distant receding mountains with ease. I will cover some basic principles to my approach and share with you my color palette. Then I will explain how and when to use hard edges and soft edges to engage the viewer. Show you why rocks have to have certain elements in them to make them look and appear as a hard surface. With mountains, I will explain my color combinations and philosophies regardless if you paint the Rocky Mountains or just distant hills in your own home town.
