Pro tip: if you see a big old bull buffalo all alone, admire from a large distance.⁣

The fantastic animal seen here is an American bison (also called buffalo).⁣
Bison almost became extinct in the 1800s because white settlers hunted them in such large numbers. ⁣

Unlike native Americans who would hunt a few of them at a time, and then use EVERY part of the Buffalo to achieve a purpose (really, they would even use the bladder to hold water), the white people hunted them with guns and killed them for fun (often leaving the corpse to rot). You can find pictures of some of these maniacal people posing with a "wall" or "hill" containing thousands of bison skulls. ⁣

Here in this Canadian National Park, they are able to roam, mate, and live much of how they used to hundreds of years ago.
