Sup With: Poncho Shopping in Pisac | The Gateway to the Sacred Valley
Come with me to Pisac to explore and shop at the Pisac Artisan Market for THE poncho meant for me. My thing is, if I'm gonna get something, I'm going to go all in to the best of my abilities. I didn't want some cheap touristy poncho. Granted, the act of getting a poncho to wear to Machu Picchu is already peak tourist, but I wanted a poncho that would mean something to me. A piece that represented Andean culture that I could truly appreciate and treasure long after my time in Peru is over. Did I succeed?
Pisac is a small town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, famous for its artisan market and the Pisac ruins.
Personally, I didn't get to hike the ruins, so you should if you can. Then you can tell me about it. I did spend hours shopping in the square and the market. My tip is, do all the souvenir shopping a day or two before you leave Cusco. And aim that day to be a Sunday when the market is in it's full vibrancy and life.
Some essential info:
Location: Plaza Constitución, Pisac, Sacred Valley, Peru
Open Daily: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Getting there: 45-minute journey from Cusco by collective or taxi. Colectivo is the most cost-effective option. From my experience S/5 on weekdays and S/7 on the weekend.
The shops featured in this video are:
Imperio del Sol. It's on the pricier side, but I def recommend checking them out. Junior was so cool and helpful.
The second shop, I'm sorry I do not the name of it. There wasn't any signage I could see, but if you go down the alleyway of shops it's at the end before it turns left on your right hand side, and you may see Mrs. A. I hope that doesn't confuse you. But you're gonna explore the whole place anyways, right?
Support the locals. Enjoy some fresh fruit. Buy something nice for yourself and your peoples. Have fun. Be Safe. Peace.
Gear used:
DJI Osmo Pocket 3
Ricoh GRIII
