What you would need to know in Saving Fuel:

6) Remember helmet also plays a vital role here, aerodynamic full face helmet does help reducing drag on the long run. It does not show you noticeable difference on daily basis however in the long run you will find a little bit of a difference. As speed increases, the drag increases by square of speed, faster you ride higher the wind resistance will be thus decreasing your fuel mileage.

7) Donot use any fuel additives/high octane such as speed that claims to increase the power and mileage, it only works on high end engines which I will cover in another video very shortly. You will save considerable amount of money by not using these products.

8) Ensure that your bike is tuned properly and serviced on time.

9) Go smooth on acceleration, this will ensure that your engine is not flooded with rich fuel mix and hence your bike gives you a much better mileage.

10) Donot reach top speeds and stay there, this will not only decrease your fuel efficiency but also end up having damages to your engine.

11) Keep your engine clean, this reduces any sludge in your engine and increases torque. Change engine oil regularly.

12) If you have a long way to travel such as a highway, always use minimum throttle for maximum mileage.

13) Every bike sold in India usually has a RPM displayed, usually you would find a Green marking & red marking. What do they really indicate? Remember: Green marking is for maximum fuel efficient engine RPM and red for Maximum inefficient fuel consumption RPM.

14) Try changing the gear while on the green marking, this will allow your engine to give you best mileage for every litre of petrol.

15) When approaching a corner, judge the distance and use minimum breaking, this would save the energy require to accelerate back up to your original speed hence saving decent amount of fuel.

16) Go neutral or Turn off your bike ( I won’t recommend this technique to new riders ) while approaching a red light / signal.

17) Always fill fuel during Night times, this is even better during winter season. As the density of Petrol increases while the volume decreases. Which means you get a little bit more out of the petrol that you put in

18) While riding at higher speeds, lay down a bit which would incr
ease the aero dynamic efficiency, this will help your motorcycle retain maximum torque with minimum stress. while engine efficiency increases with load, the force required to overcome aerodynamic drag increases with the square of the velocity thereby causing the power required to increase with the cube of the velocity

19) Coasting in neutral: This is very effective method however not recommended for bikers who are new to riding.

20) Get your bike a gift of performance air intake, this ensures that your engine gets a healthy mix of air and fuel.
