VR DAVI a worthy Samsung Gear alternative?

I check out the VR-Davi from Retronics and examine the build quality. The VR-Davi is a significant competitor the Samsung Gear VR but for a fraction of the cost! Please note that this does not have the same controls for the Gear VR however it will run similar apps and for added functionality you could purchase a bluetooth games controller for more immersive gameplay.
