Cancer sufferer woke from surgery to remove her voicebox and began to TALK

Chatterbox Kim Winterton spoke her first words just hours after going under the knife - much to the amazement of doctors who'd said she may never speak again. Despite not having any vocal chords, she found she was easily able to talk by breathing through a hole in her neck.

Even though she was left without any vocal chords, Kim was able to talk by breathing through a hole in her neck.

Great-grandmother Kim, 72, said: "There was a lady in the next bed and she said "how are you Kim?"

"I said very quietly "I'm alright thanks," and I don't know where it came from.

"I have been speaking like that ever since - I suppose it comes out easy when you're a gasbag."
