Envisioning a Water Sensitive Future for our Cities and Towns: Tony Wong at TEDxCanberra
Professor Tony Wong heads a $120 million research centre with research hubs based in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Singapore and involving over 75 organisations across the academia/research, industry, and government sectors. He is internationally recognised for his research and practice in the sustainable urban water management, particularly in Water Sensitive Urban Design.
In this talk, Tony outlines his vision of a sustainable city that uses water in a practical and aesthetically pleasing way. He suggests a "a new paradigm for design of urban environments that blends creativity with technical and scientific rigour".
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
