Desert Lore: Mimbres Culture and Pottery

In this episode of Desert Lore, I teach about the Mimbres culture and share its incredible pottery. Mimbres was part of the greater Mogollon culture, which spread through southern Arizona and New Mexico, as well as Northern Mexico. But unlike other cultures in the area that made traditional black on white pottery in geometric zentangle patterns, Mimbres style demonstrated an explosion of unique figurative depictions in their pottery. The first half of this video teaches about the culture and time line. The second half shares the vast collection on Mimbres ceramics.
