What Made The Netherlands Great (Johan de Witt speech)

I have uploaded a shorter, higher-quality version of this video, featuring just De Witt's speech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YGlmHgGaDI

De Witt's speech in the 2015 film Michiel de Ruyter ("Admiral" in English) lists the qualities that made the Netherlands great during the Dutch Golden Age. In the introduction to this video, I illustrate how these qualities, although specific to the rich Netherlands of the 1600s, can also be interpreted in a more general sense to be the hallmarks of any successful nation, even in the 21st century. I then play the speech, my annotation in the top left showing which part of the speech corresponds to each of these general hallmarks.

My interpretation results in these twelve hallmarks :
1. Freedom of speech (vrijheid van meningsuiting)
2. Trade and commerce (handel en commercie)
3. Cooperation (samenwerking)
4. Capitalism (kapitalisme)
5. Republican form of government (republicanisme)
6. Personal liberty (persoonlijke vrijheid)
7. Freedom of religion (vrijheid van godsdienst)
8. Constitutional limits on power (Heeft met effective grondwettelijke beperkingen)
9. Shared values (gedeelde normen)
10. Shared national identity (gedeelde nationale identiteit)
11. Work ethic and self reliance (arbeidsethos en zelfredzaamheid)
12. A people prepared to fight for their freedom (een volk bereid te vechten voor vrijheid)

Some Dutch history (geschiedenis van het Nederlands) :

During the Dutch Golden Age (Gouden Eeuw) in the 17th century the Dutch Republic (proper name Republic of the Seven United Netherlands or Republiek der Zeven Verenigde Nederlanden) was the richest and most sophisticated country in the world.

This era saw the Dutch win their freedom from Spain (1568-1648 Eighty Years' War / Dutch Revolt or Tachtigjarige Oorlog / Nederlandse Opstand), establish the world's first modern financial system, become the preeminent players in global trade and twice defeat England in major naval wars (Second and Third Anglo-Dutch Wars or Tweede / Derde Engels-Nederlandse Oorlog). Agriculture, the sciences and the arts all flourished.

The great political debate of the era was between the Orangists (prinsgezinden), who believed in the political supremacy of the Dutch state over its constituent provinces and who wanted William of Orange to become Stadtholder (a kind of limited and non-hereditary monarch, spelled Stadhouder in Dutch) and the Republicans (staatsgezinden), who opposed the concept of the Stadtholder and believed in the political supremacy of the provinces.

Johan de Witt was a Republican and the most powerful political leader (Grand Pensionary or Raadpensionaris) in the Republic between 1650 and 1672. Blamed for a military defeat by France he was brutally lynched and killed by a mob in The Hague in 1672. Michiel de Ruyter (sometimes spelled de Ruijter) was a Dutch admiral and a friend of De Witt. He led the Dutch fleet to victories in the Second and Third Anglo-Dutch Wars. The Raid on the Medway (Tocht naar Chatham) in1667 was his greatest triumph and he remains a Dutch national hero.
