OSIRIS-REx Asteroid Bennu Sample Return Mission - Journey Through Solar System Documentary

OSIRIS-REx is a NASA asteroid study and sample-return mission which travel to a near-Earth asteroid Bennu and bring a small sample back to Earth for study.

OSIRIS-REx mission will attempt to collect a sample of asteroid Bennu on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 6:12 p.m. EDT. and return a sample to Earth in 2023.

Bennu was chosen as the target of study because it is a "time capsule" from the birth of our Solar System. In the future, these asteroids may one day fuel the exploration of the solar system by robotic and crewed spacecraft.

It is a potentially hazardous object with a cumulative 1:2,700 chance of impacting Earth between 2175 and 2199.

On 24 September 2023, the OSIRIS-REx return capsule will re-enter Earth's atmosphere and land under a parachute at the Air Force's Utah Test and Training Range.
