I wanted to take the opportunity to share the love and spotlight Captiva, particularly Redfish Pass. It’s the main body of water that separates Captiva from North Captiva, or Upper Cap as some people call it. Great fishing spot, it’s also a busy waterway if you’re coming from Cape Coral, Pine Island, or Fort Myers. You can go one of two ways to head offshore. You can either come through this pass, or you can go out by Sanibel lighthouse. On your left, you’re gonna see South Seas Island Resort. You can see that green area there and the T-dock, behind the T-dock they have events in that area there. It’s one of the places where they have wedding receptions, and also on the beach on the front of the property. You can see the golf course on the left-hand side. These units on the end are called “Lands” and have absolutely stunning views. Big condos right in-between the pass. You’re gonna see on your left the golf course, and you can see some of the prettiest golf holes you’ll ever see anywhere in the world. Goes around the pass and then straight down the beach there. Look at that real estate, absolutely stunning. Not many people out on the beach today, but plenty of people exercising. Okay, this is heading back in through the pass. On your left-hand side, there’s upper Cap. You can see the stone walls, they’re put there to stop erosion. This whole pass was actually created by a hurricane that divided Captiva in two in 1921. This island you can only get to by boats, and you can see what a beautiful island it is. All individually owned homes, it’s four miles long and half a mile wide at its widest. Little more than half of the island is owned by the state. The rest of the island has 350 homes on there, about 100 are available for rent. Now, look at this, what a treat we had today. There’s lots of fish in this pass. I was talking to Tatum of “Catch Me If You Can Charter”, and he was telling me that they’re catching a lot with Smoker Redfish, Sheepshead, even Lady Fish in this pass. In the center of the channel, you can get bigger fish like Tarpon and Shark. It’s a beautiful place, dolphins and fishermen alike love it.
