How to use HDD Regenerator to repair bad sectors on HDD

Common knowledge says that if the surface of the disk is damaged then the bad sector cannot be repaired. However, that is not always the case. Data should be stored as 0 or 1. Over time these values erode slightly due to environmental conditions and general wear and tear. What should be recorded as a 1 can be slight off and is 0.99 instead. Some products such as SpinRite (by Gibson research) and possibly HDD regenerator may use statistical analysis to determine the true value. A value of 0.99 can probably be realistically determined to be a 1. Likewise values such as 0.01 can be safely assumed to be 0. Reading bits both in a forward direction and reverse direction can further determine the probability. The bit can then be correctly rewritten. Although I have never seen the code for HDD regenerator I have successfully used the program to fix hard drives that had failed with bad sector errors.
