F 105 D 360 Overhead Landing Pattern

To land the F-105, follow these guidelines, and don't get behind the airplane !
Enter the traffic pattern at 300-350 knots approximately three miles from end of runway and 1500 feet about field elevation.

When above the approach-end of the runway, do a 60-degree bank 180-degree break to downwind - Adjust throttle as required to roll-out on downwind below 275 knots. Extend the landing gear and flaps and maintain level flight until abeam the approach-end of the runway.
Begin a descending 30-40 degree turn to final approach at
225 knots.

Decrease airspeed to 195 - 210 knots prior to rolling out on final. Use speed brakes as required.

Control airspeed and rate of sink by throttle.

RECOMMENDED APPPROACH SPEEDS & GLIDE ANGLES MUST BE ADHERED TO AND LANDNGS MUST BE SMOOTH WITH VERY LOW SINK RATES!

After establishing final approach speed of approximately 190 KCAS, begin flare to touchdown.

To preclude excessive rates of sink during flare, a 2.5- to 3.0-degree final approach is recommended.

Rate of sink should be controlled by a combination of power and speed brakes until touchdown.
Touchdown at 170/160 KCAS and simultaneously reduce throttle to idle.
Maximum aerodynamic braking is obtained after touchdown by retracting the flaps and increasing back pressure on the stick to keep the nose wheel slightly aloft whenever above 130 KCAS. At 130 KCAS gently lower the nose.

Deploy drag chute for all landings. To gain maximum drag chute effectiveness, which is obtained in the higher allowable speed regions, the drag chute should be deployed as soon as positive directional control is available with the main wheels on the ground.

I captured these video scenes from Microsoft-FSX by aiming my video camera directly at a 52" Samsung LED Screen. Later, I discovered a much better way to capture HD computer video by using FRAPS video-capture program. Go to FRAPS dot COM to get this program.
