2012-10-28 Riding out Hurricane Sandy at Anchor, Deltaville, VA

Shear Madness was in Deltaville, VA as Hurricane Sandy approached. After evaluating our options, we decided to ride the storm out at anchor in nearby Fishing Bay (we are too large to be hauled out at the Deltaville Boatyard). This video shows our preparations for the storm and our experience at anchor. The little excitement we had - losing our snubber line - occurred at night and required both of us to focus on the problem so we have no video of that. The good news for us is that this is not an exciting disaster video - rather it shows that a well built boat with good preparation can easily withstand strong winds in a protected anchorage.
