HOW to BUY FILM CAMERAS on EBAY | A Step by Step Guide
In this video, I teach viewers how to shop for film cameras on Ebay. This a step by step guide on how I go about finding quality cameras while using the platform. When you're new to film photography, it's easy to get overwhelmed and make a bad purchase, but using my five tips will help the novice as well as the intermediate film photography make a sound buy on Ebay.
My Five Tips for buying film cameras on Ebay are as follows:
1. Know your budget and stick to it.
** This will prevent you from going overboard and overspending while on Ebay. The idea is to stay within your means while shopping for a camera you truly want. Sometimes this requires saving up for a few months to do so. Which is why staying within your budget is key.
2. Know how much the camera you're looking to buy sells for on Ebay.
** Prices fluctuate on Ebay. You need to find out on average how much a working make and model of the camera you want sells for. Then monitor the platform for a quality camera within that range. Too high a price, is a seller looking for a sucker. Too low a price is a seller looking to sell a broken camera just for parts.
3. READ THE DESCRIPTION AND LOOK OVER THE PHOTOS.
** More often than not, sellers will tell you if a camera is damaged and in what condition you'll be buying this piece of equipment. It is your duty to read the description of the item thoroughly and inspect the photos that accompany the camera meticulously. A lot of sellers don't take refunds or they'll say something like 'selling as is' in the description. Don't buy a broken/damaged camera because you don't do your part.
4. Ask questions
** If there's a piece of information missing from the description contact the seller and ask them your question. Never buy a camera on assumptions, it's best to gain clarity before you make a purchase. Better safe than sorry.
5. Negotiate
** If the seller has the option for 'Make an Offer', I implore you to MAKE AN OFFER. If you can get the camera you want cheaper, than try. Always better to pay less, than more.
I hope my tips for buying film cameras on Ebay help you out on your camera hunt. Please utilize this tips for other purchases on the platform as I've found they're applicable for a variety of purchases.
