US-Israel-Iran War LIVE: EAM Jaishankar Says In Talks With Iran To Reopen Strait Of Hormuz

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar revealed that India is actively discussing measures with Iran to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, addressing New Delhi's concerns about potential disruptions to energy supplies. Speaking on the development, Jaishankar hailed the ongoing talks as "already yielding some results," emphasizing India's belief that it's more productive to "engage rather than avoid engagement."

He clarified that no "blanket arrangement" exists yet for India-flagged vessels, with ship movements handled on a case-by-case basis. When asked about European nations pursuing similar deals, Jaishankar noted that each country's engagement with Iran is shaped by its unique circumstances, making direct comparisons tricky. However, India remains open to sharing its approach with European capitals, many of which have kept dialogue channels open with Tehran.

"While this is a welcome development, discussions are still ongoing as there is more work to be done," Jaishankar added.
