Support Arm and Rail! Metal Cutting Station, Part 2

Part two in a series: Shop Built Metal Cutting Station. Shows the process of building the support arm and rail, an 18" length of hardwood with embedded resin strips above and below. The carriage assembly (Part 3, upcoming) slides on the rail to move the grinder; the support arm holds the rail parallel to the base. The arm is bolted to the base using two 1/2"-13 x 8" carriage bolts with 1 1/8" washers and hex nuts. The rail is attached to the arm with six #8 x 1 3/4" flathead wood screws.

Source for the resin bar: McMaster-Carr, 8739K86

The pattern for the metal cutting station appeared in Woodsmith Magazine, volume 37, issue 221.
