Behind the scenes: Conducting a film at the Royal Albert Hall

Since 2009, classic films with live orchestral accompaniment have been screened in the spectacular Royal Albert Hall. Each year we welcome orchestras to perform best-loved movie soundtracks, from The Lord of the Rings and Gladiator, to E.T.

From arranging (and sometimes recreating) the score to performing the music in synchronisation with the action, getting a film ready is no easy task. We went behind the scenes at the Royal Albert Hall to find out how it’s done.
