Tales of Time – Ramekon O'Arwisters

Are you ready to go dump diving with artist Ramekon O’Arwisters? Drawing upon a childhood memory of the African-American tradition of weaving and quilting, his works use crochet techniquest to transform broken an ddiscarded ceramics he finds in San Francisco’s city dump into unique sculptures. Cloth and ceramic are stripped of their intended function. Using fabric to mend the ceramic fragments, the final pieces represent the human body, a vessel which, like a broken vase, needs mending when broken physically, emotionally, or otherwise. Aside from weaving, O’Arwisters is also known for creating community-based projects infused with fold-art traditions.
