Fiji declares natural state of disaster as Tropical Cyclone Yasa hits

Fiji has declared a state of natural disaster as Tropical Cyclone Yasa thrashes the island.

The category five system is expected to bring winds of up to 250 kilometres an hour and torrential rain.

Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama ordered a 14-hour nation-wide curfew - telling people living in low-lying areas to evacuate.
