The "secret" 1942 Hitler Mannerheim tape on a new Channel.

The "secret" Hitler-Mannerheim tape revisited.
WHERE ARE THE SUBTITLES?
ENGLISH AND GERMAN SUBTITLES are selectable at the cogwheel symbol!

Commenting is DISABLED for the video, why?
1) Too many Frequently Asked Questions: see the FAQ
2) This video site is not meant to be a general WWII discussion forum. There are other sites.

A very important and much discussed Hitler recording we have here.

I've made some corrections to the subtitles from audience suggestions.
Hitler is using his normal speaking voice, and is now presented as if you would have been sitting in the next compartment of the railway car. The original recording was used for the film "Der Undergang" by the late Bruno Ganz for his Hitler part.

F.A.Q. on the myths surrounding this recording

Finally even the news media are abandoning the "secret recording" story.

-"Was this a secret recording with hidden microphones"
No it was not, it was a perfectly normal recording using heavy grade studio "bottle" microphones, which were clearly visible to all. There are TWO microphones in the picture where Mannerheim delivers his speech: one is for the recording, the other is only for relaying the speeches to a "spillover" audience in another railway car.

-"Was this is a fake recording". "And so says [the late Hitler bodyguard] Rochus Misch too."
No it's was not. It's as certified a record as any can be.

-"Was the recording made by the Finnish Secret service/German Secret Service or the like"
No. The recording was made by the Finnish Broadcasting Corp. as part of the celebrations of Marshall Mannerheim's 75th birthday to record the official speeches.

-"Was the recording terminated by the SS".
No. The Recording was terminated by the Finnish Captain Kalle Lehmus who worked at the HQ as Press Officer, who noticed the recording was still left running after the public part and speeches had been held. The lies of "SS Men gesturing throat cutting" was promoted by the technician Thor Damén to add value to his tape that he had leaked. Hitler had his SS body guards with him, but the SS had no jurisdiction in Finland, in any case!

-"Marshall Mannerheim blew cigar smoke onto Hitler's eyes."
We have no proof of that, other than from the newsreel we can see everyone was smoking at the time, also likely after the dinner.

- "The pitch of the recording was is too low and Hitler does not sound correct."
Again, no proof of such, Hitler had a low natural speaking voice and as a good orator could make it even lower to sound more convincing.

-"But I read Hitler almost collided with a factory chimney on his flight"
No he did not, not even close. That is a falsehood promoted by the Finnish fighter pilot Hans Wind, research has shown it was not possible. Wind was at an another airport altogether, having lost the connection to Hitler's plane in the clouds and having been forced to land there.

-"But Hitler's plane's brakes caught fire on landing"
Yes they did, due to stuck brakes, something that was already known could possibly happen due to a preexisting fault, but it was quickly extinguished. Later new parts were manufactured on-site for the plane by the Finnish crew for the return flight.

Why are there so many myths around for this visit?
Because so many false myths about the visit have been circulating for ages, and they have become the truth in people's minds, and recently refreshed by click-baiting YouTube history channels who may in good faith repeat International sources and hearsay, unable to read or use the more current Finnish sources. When it comes to Hitler, everyone's an expert on the juicy bits and good sounding stories...!
First the stories of the technician Damén who leaked and sold a tape copy to Sweden after the war where it was first published in a newspaper. Also Hans Wind who flew one the accompanying Finnish fighters, colored and boosted his part in the event.
