With two children allergic to dairy, Mariana Cortez faced a challenge when it came time to find a birthday cake for her oldest son. Noticing a lack of vegan dessert options in the Miami area, she opted to bake the cake herself. With that, the idea for Bunnie Cakes was born. Mariana started out baking treats in her own kitchen and left her corporate job once restaurants in the area started to sell her cupcakes. As the business became more successful, Bunnie Cakes got its own storefront filled with cases of colorful vegan cakes and cupcakes. Inspired by her children’s energy and ideas, Mariana pours her heart and soul into the business, thinking through every detail down to the miniature edible heart on each cupcake. Bunnie Cakes is changing the vegan dessert scene in Miami, one tasty treat at a time.
