Apple's redesigned MacBook Pro released in 2016 ditched all of the ports in favor of USB-C and Thunderbolt 3. The decision bothered many as did the Touch Bar—an accessory deemed too expensive and insubstantial to warrant a price hike—but the keyboard has remained the worst single problem with Apple's worst laptop lineup in decades. Reliability of the butterfly switch has been dismal at best and has soured the reputation of a once great laptop lineup. Can the new 8-core i9 CPU save MacBook Pro? No. But it fixes a lot of issues the prior models have had. That said... you should just wait for the new rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro with MicroLED display.
