We could lose the oldest culture on our planet | Amy Toensing | TEDxCarnegieLake

When the pyramids were being built, the Aboriginal culture in Australia was already running for 55,000 years. In this talk, Amy Toensing shares the difference in life of Aboriginal Australians before and after colonization. She sheds light on years of dispossession, massacres, and discrimination by the Government.

Amy Toensing, an American photojournalist committed to telling stories with sensitivity and depth, is known for her intimate essays about the lives of ordinary people. Toensing has been a regular contributor to National Geographic magazine for over a decade and recently completed her fourteenth feature story for them which was about food insecurity in the United States. She has also worked for numerous other international publications such as The New York Times, Smithsonian, and The Wall Street Journal. For the last 4 years she has been documenting Aboriginal Australia which was published in the June, 2013 issue of National Geographic magazine.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
