How do webhooks actually work? What's the difference between a webhook and an API?

If you want your AI systems to update instantly, respond instantly, or trigger workflows without delay, you need to understand the difference between APIs and webhooks. APIs let you pull data. Webhooks push data to you in real-time.

Traditional APIs are request-response pattern you initiate. Webhooks are event driven notifications which initiate the API endpoint.
