Sideline Assessment of Concussion - American Academy of Neurology

The importance of identifying and appropriately managing concussion has become an important topic, particularly for young athletes. The first step in management is identifying the injury and removing the athlete from play. In this video, we aim to explain the tools available to help in evaluation on the sideline, along with some of the key clinical exam skills and findings that can aid in determining if a player should remain out or if they are okay to return to play following a possible concussion.
