QuickBooks Landlords Receiving Security Deposits From Tenants

In this learn QuickBooks training video, you will learn how to record receiving security deposits from tenants. You have to use a customized “customer balance detail” report that is filtered specifically for the receivable account that tracks total security deposits payable to all tenants. You must record receiving them in to the proper receivable account. If you receive 1 big payment from a tenant when they move in. You should enter that payment twice with the same transaction number or check number. One amount would go to the normal unearned rent account and the rest would get recorded separately in to the security deposits payable account.
