WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING ACCUTANE! Accutane is a very strong and medication that can cause some serious side effects. These side effects usually go once the treatment is stopped. But what should you be aware of before starting Accutane?

On the 4th of September, I had my first appointment with a dermatologist to discuss my acne. I have been dealing with acne for 10 years of my life (Since I was 10) and no matter what treatments and creams I used nothing would clear my acne. At my first dermatology appointment, she told me that the best medication to help clear my skin would be Accutane ( Also know as Roaccutane & Isotretinoin). At this appointment, I was straight away made aware of the possible side effects. With most of these side effects, I was in shock.

Accutane is a very strong medication that can help clear acne. This medication has some serve side effects that need to be known before starting Accutane treatment. Because of these side effects, Accutane isn't for everyone. Please see the below links for more information:

I started to get acne when I was around 10 years old due to hormones. I was the only one in my year at school who had acne at this age which made me a great target for bullies. For example when I first started high school (age 11)... In my French lesson, all the boys who sat behind me would throw objects and gum at me so that I would turn around for them to comment and hurl insults about my skin. This happened every French lesson until the end of the year. The names I was called didn't stop until the end of high school. Due to bullies, my acne affected my confidence significantly.
