Blue Doon Fort William | The longest Blue grade uplift mountain bike trail in the UK!

Welcome to the brand new Blue Doon trail at Fort William DH Trails. Fort William's reputation as an MTB haven is well established in the Scottish Mountain Biking Community. It is mostly known for it's gondola-accessed trails. The two trails that were previously there were the black-graded Fort William DH and Top Chief tracks. Although these are incredible tracks in themselves they are not easily accessible to young, beginner or intermediate riders.

The Blue Doon trail aims to remedy that. At 8km long, The Nevis Blue Doon is the longest Blue grade uplift mountain bike trail in the UK. It is accessed from the top Nevis Range Gondola station. It starts at a height of 650m above sea level. The top section of the trail is on open hillside with expansive views across Fort William and Loch Linnhe. It then heads into the forest and joins the larger network of trails in the lower forest at Nevis Range, and finishes at the car park.

I rode the Blue Doon Trail on opening day. Conditions on the trail were challenging, with low visibility and slick, dusty conditions.
