Epic Jeep JL Overlanding Adventure - 7,200 Miles & 16 States

Synopsis:
We had both taken off work for 4 weeks so we'd have plenty of time to do the latter half of the TransAmerica Trail (TAT) and get back home to Alabama from the west coast. To save time, we started in Boise City, OK just before the TAT crosses into New Mexico.

The TAT took us through all sorts of varied terrain and several cow pastures along the way. It was really easy to find places to camp as a lot of the trail is within national forests. On July 4th, we made it to Cinnamon Pass only to find that it was blocked by snow...but we got to play in the snow on Independence Day (and for a southerner, that's HUGE).

As a backup plan, we took the Rimrocker Trail from Montrose, CO to Moab, UT. It was a great decision as the views were spectacular and the terrain added just a touch more challenge to it than basic dirt roads. Camping on the edge of Carpenter Ridge was, by far, my favorite camp site of the trip (despite the thousands of cicadas making a constant clicking sound).

After driving through Long Canyon in Moab, the Jeep was making a terrible sound that we couldn't diagnose. I was reluctant to take it to a shop so we just decided to stick to the pavement and turn it into a touristy trip.
