Why rivalries need real stakes to matter

Why rivalries need real stakes to matter
You cannot have rivalries without stakes.

I think what we're saying is that when if there's one team or I guess in theory you could have two that are so much better than everyone else that you feel like you know the ending of the movie before where the conference playoffs don't matter.

That's no fun.

When the warriors got Durant, I went on the air the next day and I said this is the worst thing that could possibly happen to the NBA because you knew the ending of the movie before it even started.

Brian Winhorst already booked hotels and nowhere else and canceled them everywhere else.

That's not better.

But having legitimately great teams for everyone to be shooting at, I think, in the big picture.

But one of the things that's going to happen, you know, we talk a lot about, like with the Knicks winning a championship, how does that reset the league or reset the market? What it is going to happen? Because I've talked to a couple of different players that could be supermax this year or next year there.

They're starting to feel a little pressure from team owners by saying Jalen Brunson left $113 million on the table for sure.

Okay.

What are you going to do on the table? Okay, hold that thought because I'm coming to it.

As this hour continues, we're going to get strong, and I do mean strong pushback against that thought from you.
