Affiliate Marketing Strategies - Go From 0 To 6-Figure Exit

The #1 strategy for affiliate marketing is simple but hard:

Avoid what doesn't work.

There's no group in the world that gets sucked into shiny object syndrome more than entrepreneurs. We're always looking for better, smarter, faster ways to do things...

And this means that no one is more susceptible to get-rich-quick schemes than we are.

Some advice that I wish someone had given me when I was first getting started:

Spending big doesn't mean winning big. It's very easy to spend money on the wrong things.

And in general, anything that uses the words "passive income" is considered the wrong thing. Anything that says "guaranteed" or talks about how you can invest money and change everything...

Wrong things.

Avoid those. There's value in spending money. But if you don't know what you're doing, you're going to get burned. Start by building a site yourself or getting something premade in a validated niche by experts.

But If someone had the keys to success and it required no work... why would they share that with you? Wouldn't they be making bank themselves?

Now that we know what not to do, let's talk about the steps in your to-do list.

For beginners: you want to pick an easy niche to get started.

This means ignore the people who say they know the "best niche" or that "X niche is most profitable".

They don't know. I don't know. And if they did, they'd never tell you.

Some quick pointers if you don't want to check out that video:

Then once you have one successful site, scale up to more difficult sites. But the winning strategy is to start easy and go to difficult niches from there.

Once you have your niche, I recommend Google organic traffic. This is the traffic that converts the best and costs the least, so it's great for affiliate marketers.

Now that we've got the beginner stuff out of the way, let's get more advanced...

Advanced tactic #1: Build links

... or don't.

I take a contrarian view: I think that link building is valuable but overrated. Let's look at it from an ROI standpoint: What is going to give you the maximum return on your investment?

Building links?

Or producing more content?

As long as your keyword research is good, my best experience has come from producing more content. I'm not saying that link building isn't valuable. It for sure is.

But if your keyword research is good, I've found that content can often rank without links at all.

My recommendation is to write your content, let it sit for a year, and if it's not ranking where you want it, then consider building links.

Next strategy that I've always seen work: build an email list.

This is the only source of traffic that you have 100% control over. You can do whatever you want with it and the revenue numbers from good email lists are wild.

Build your list by offering something for free. An ebook, a course, a video series, etc. Then use that list to test new affiliate offers, send your users back to your own content, and to sell your own products...

Late game strategy time:

Diversification is the name of the game once your site is earning. You want diversified income and diversified traffic.

Once your site hits 10k views per month, I recommend going with Ezoic to boost your ad revenue.

This is also the level where you should consider diversifying your traffic. Now is a good time to get into social media traffic with informational, attractive content.

And your email list will help you get followers from day 1 ;)

Continuing on diversification, consider trying out different affiliate programs. See who pays you the most and who converts the best. Test different ad networks as well.

And always be working to reduce your dependency. Don't allow one giant to shut down your business; have diversified income and traffic where you hold the reigns.

And if you're going to take control, that almost always means producing your own products.

This is a good move once you've already made some money with affiliate and ads. You have a good base of income and know what your niche likes.

Producing your own products allows you to take control of your revenue and start buying ads to get traffic.
