Rapid Sand filter backwash

Rapid sand filter is one of the several components of the water treatment process. After settling of coarse sediments in Sedimentation tank, and flocculation process,the water flows into the rapid sand filter and is flitered through the graded sand bed for trapping the flocs and impurities.
These sand beds are cleaned up at regular intervals and the whole cleaning process is done through 'Backwas' which means water is rushed up from inside the sand beds and the impurities, flocs trapped inside flush out of the sand bed. This makes the sand bed again loose and ready to accept another round of flocculated impure water.
