In the sleepy wilderness and towns of the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan lies the ruins of a retired war machine. . . that had enough destructive power to level 300 major cities.
We explore Raco Auxiliary Air Field, 753rd Radar Station and Kincheloe Air Force Base. We talk about their history and the amazing accomplishment of creating such power.
And it all ended as abruptly as the cold war.
I used to live on Kincheloe AFB as a young blonde brat and my father served in the 753rd Radar Squadron.
