This is my first collaboration with another musician for a cover and together we have created this tribute to a great classic of the 80s: I Can't Go for That (No Can Do) by Daryl Hall & John Oates.

As I was thinking about how to recreate the sax part of this track, it occurred to me that it would be really exciting to be able to collaborate with a real sax player and looking on YouTube, I found a video tutorial where Kevin played this part very accurately. I was immediately struck by his playing and so I asked him if he wanted to help me recreate the two sax solos on this track. To create a video in which it seemed that both of us were playing in the same environment, I asked him to use a black background with a point of light pointed from the top down (to be able to recreate the glow effect of the original music video) and with my big surprise, Kevin did a lot more... not only did he manage to recreate the sax solo note by note, but he also managed to find the correct outfit and made the video, moving like "Charles DeChant" in the original video .

For all these reasons, I wanted to thank him very much for the SUPERB work he did for this video and for helping me so passionately to complete this tribute... THANK YOU OF HEART, KEVIN :) :) :)

I recommend to all music fans to watch, his channel and his very interesting works:

And for those who want to learn the sax solo of this track, he has created two fantastic tutorials:

Unfortunately, it took longer than expected to complete the video/track because I had to save some money to be able to buy a new guitar (EKO S-350V with Humbucker in the bridge) that sounded more like this one that John Oates used in this song... with my Les Paul I couldn't get a sound quite similar. I was really satisfied with this new guitar and soon I will make some changes... maybe in the future, I will make a small video dedicated to it. Also, my wife and I had to find/create the fabrics and clothes to create the 80s vibe of the video.

There was a lot of work to be done to create this video and also in post production to recreate the effects as close as possible to the original music video.

Luckily, the musical part wasn't too complex to make (as always, completely recreated by ear). For the drums, I used the individual samples of drum machine Roland CR-78 (excluding percussion and cabasa) and I used the CS1x (for a part of the brass, a part of Rhodes and strings) and the VSTs Jupiter-8 from Arturia, Dexed. For the guitar part, I played it a little more rhythmic than the original to create a more pronounced groove and allow the percussion to be more audible.

To create the video I was inspired by the official video and for the graphics for the opening credits, I wanted to make it similar by the one you see for a few moments at the beginning of the official video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccenFp_3kq8

Hope you like everything :)

** To better appreciate my tributes, I recommend you watch them on a screen with a resolution of at least 1920×1080 and with a good sound system (or good quality headphones) **

*** Please note: my videos are not live performances, but are music videos accompanying for the covers I create. The original graphics and music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I'm just a fan and I recreate animations/graphics/tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these great timeless classics ***
