Smartsoil Ground Cover - Stephen Frost - The Soil as a living Entity
This latest @smartsoil release features Regenerative Prime lamb and wool producer Stephen Frost of Stonemeal Farm, situated on the rolling hills & highly leached soils of Narrikup, in the South West of Western Australia.
Stephen has developed a unique approach to soil remineralisation which strictly focuses on enhancing the function of the Rhizosphere, allowing for an amazing "buffering effect" provided by healthy, functioning plant rhizospheres and the associated microbes.
Along with the remineralisation program, Stephen and his wife Kerry have encouraged pasture & plant biodiversity, adapting lessons from Bill Millison's Permaculture and planting European species in the paddocks for fodder, shelter, timber production, and fire resilience. Stephen also speaks of a few other inspirational figures and pivotal moments from his journey, including burying Cow horns on Podolinsky's farm!
It was a pleasure to be welcomed onto the regenerating country of Stonemeal farm. We hope the story of Stephen Frost inspires you and encourages you to explore the many innovative nature-based processes we can deploy on our farms to create more resilient and biodiverse ecosystems. Our soil is our greatest asset and holds dear our food security and climate security for all people on earth, can you help us regenerate?
