Album Review 8: The Beach Boys - Surf's Up
Released in 1971, and peaking at #29 on the charts, Surf's Up was a pivotal album for the Beach Boys. Released to help them regain an audience that had left them behind, and to establish a new, roots-rock crowd, the band started fresh with the help of new manager, Jack Reiley. Carl's strengths were blossoming, Brian gave in and handed over the title track, and the band sounded determined to prove that they were not yesterday's news. A great album!
