Patented by CEU UCH: a new material for remineralisation of dentine and enamel

Fluoride-dopped Hydroxyl Calcium Phosphate is based on a specific formulation patented by professor Salvatore Sauro at CEU Cardenal Herrera University (CEU UCH), which is able to achieve a proper remineralisation of dentine and enamel.
Indeed, the components of this new material, in contact with saliva or any other body fluid, crystallise immediately (less then 24h) in hydroxyapatite, the main component of teeth. And over a period of 15 days, this latter converts into fluorapatite and/or fluoro-hydroxyapatite. This new material can be directly applied on the teeth as a preventive dental treatment or as a bioactive filler for dental restorative materials.
