What happened to the first German Field Marshal made prisoner?

On January 31, 1943, in the basement of the Univermag department store, Field Marshal Paulus surrendered the southern pocket of German troops still fighting in Stalingrad.

Later that day, he was transferred to the Don Front HQ, where he met the big bosses, General Rokossovsky and Marshal Voronov.

Then the former 6th Army's commander was led to a separate house, where he was lodged with General Schmidt, his chief of staff, and Colonel Adam, his adjutant. They were to remain there for a few days before their transfer to a POW camp near Moscow.

But there was also someone else with them. Senior-Lieutenant Tarabrin was the NKVD officer assigned for watching over the prisoners. The trick was that they weren't told about his understanding of German language. So after some time they became used to speak openly in his presence. And Tarabrin transcripted all their conversations.
