All my life I’ve been searching for something
I could never define what I was constantly reaching for
Romancing the romantical
I wanted to know what it was like to drown in the moment

I sit here still
Paralyzed by my own faculties
A tightrope of choices
Though I see the end
Shimmering like a mirage in the summer heat
I wonder what it would take
To get from here to there

I’ve always been fascinated by the edge
Heart thumping, but too scared to look at what’s on the other side
Maybe I thought, it wouldn’t be the same anymore if I did
Maybe I thought, it wouldn’t be what I thought it would be
Maybe I thought, if I fell I would never be able to get up again

Do we settle down in the dust
Simply because we can’t bear to go further?
Or simply because we can’t go any further?

What would it take
To be in the moment
To lose myself
Forget for a second, the duties and responsibilities
All the seemingly trivial wrinkles on a silk sheet of time

I want to inhale every experience
Blow it out into a cloud of my making
Fugue state, overwhelmed yet strangely placid
Like a glassy lake in morning’s blue light
A stranger in my own body

I walk to the edge
Questioning, wondering, seeing
Surrender myself to the unknown
